NEW DELHI: IFS officer Nidhi Tewari has been appointed private secretary to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a Personnel Ministry order said.
A 2014-batch Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer, Tewari is currently serving as deputy secretary in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved Tewari’s appointment as private secretary on a co-terminus basis, said the order dated March 29.
Her new role is set at Level 12 of the pay matrix and will be co-terminus with her current position or until further orders are issued.
The young IAS-turned-IFS officer is from Varanasi’s Mahmoorganj area, PM Modi’s Lok Sabha constituency since 2014. She secured the 96th rank in the Civil Services Examination in 2013 and initially served as an Assistant Commissioner in Varanasi before joining the Indian Foreign Service.
She has been serving as Deputy Secretary in the PMO since January 6, 2023, after initially joining as an Under Secretary in 2022.
